Draftsman is the studio practice of David Pilkenton.
David illustrates hospitality spaces for architects and developers during the concept, schematic, and design development phases of new projects.
His style is loose and imperfect, using a variety of mediums with the intention of capturing the overall feeling and emotion of a hospitality space to sell the vision of a project.
A former architectural designer, David created restaurants for celebrity chefs in strange places like the Pentagon food court, planned a distillery in the basement of a landmarked hotel, and visualized a burger joint into a 4ft wide building in Soho. He holds a degree in Architecture and is NCIDQ certified.

3D renderings have become ubiquitous, cold, and expected.
Freehand illustrations capture the dream-like state between big idea and final decisions—a powerful tool to win the hearts of project stakeholders, before large investments are made & final decisions are set.
